Our research has shown that rental history is neither a positive nor a negative determinant. |
How does age of the vehicle impact AutoCheck Score?
The model developed takes into account age bands and then weights the impact of the factors for each band. The score is only one measure - looking at the score range for vehicles within the band provides a basis for comparing the vehicle's score relative to similar model years and class. |
Are there other factors with age that have a greater impact on AutoCheck Score?
Factors are weighted differently for each age band. A vehicle that has been in an accident has a much higher weight on a new vehicle than number of owners, which does not become a main determinant until the vehicle is more than 8 years old. |
Do one-owner vehicles tend to score higher?
Not necessarily. The number of owners is a factor in determining the vehicle's score, but it is not the main one, especially in newer vehicles. Factors such as mileage, vehicle class and title brand history are the main determinants. The number of owners becomes more of a determinant in vehicles that are more than 8 years old. |
What about accident data? Do you have all accidents listed, and does the accident affect AutoCheck Score?
We have accident reported data from all 50 states, either through independent sources, state agencies or both. Not all accidents are reported to the Department of Motor Vehicles or flow through an insurance company. Accidents are one of the factors in the AutoCheck Score. |
Assuming mileage affects AutoCheck Score, how do you score vehicles for which you may not have mileage information?
